You Will Need:
Replacement handbrake switch
10mm socket/spanner
Torx screw driver (T20)
Symptoms
On D9 models, there is a common fault where this error message is displayed. It is usually caused by a faulty handbrake switch
Removal
New handbrake switch
Remove bolts (10mm) from both sides at the rear of floor console (either side of rear ash tray).
Remove screws from trims on both sides at front end of floor console (in foot wells)
Carefully pull side trims away from floor console, being careful for any vent ducts attached.
Open ash try and gently pull ash tray complete and surrounding trim away, gear lever gaiter will now also gently pull away
Using a plastic spatula, carefully prise switches from floor console, make note of plug locations, and unplug switches
Remove 2 x screws (T20) and nuts (10mm)
Carefully pull floor console upwards from rear end, and push front end down. Carefully pull floor console towards rear of car, being very careful for wires connected to cigar lighter. When there is sufficient clearance, unplug cigar lighter and fully remove floor console.
Gently pull handbrake rubber boot away from lever.
Remove nut (10mm) from handbrake cable (B) and pull up hand brake. Remove connector from handbrake switch (A) then unclip switch and remove it.
Refitting
Refit all components in reverse order
